Bussing Info

As you are aware, we now have only 4 buses servicing both schools where last year we had six. That means these buses will be slightly more crowded. As a result, there will be NO courtesy bus passes handed out for September, and the 1.6 kilometer rule will be strictly enforced.

As per school board regulations, the 1.6 kilometer start is at the end of School Road as we enter the school grounds (the No Entrance sign by Jimmy Young’s).

Therefore the following points are the school bus limits:

West of the school toward Shallop Cove, the Cultural Center is the starting point for bus students. Students beyond this point are eligible to ride the bus.

East of the school toward Barachois Brook, the bottom of Seal Rocks is the starting point for bus students. Students who live beyond this point are eligible to ride the bus.

The only students eligible to ride the bus in the Steel Mountain/Muise’s Lane area are those students who live on Dubay’s Lane at the very end of Muise’s Lane. The bus will travel up Muise’s Lane for those 4 students only. All other students on Steel Mountain, Muise’s Lane and Old Mill Road are considered walkers. Please note that this is a change from previous years.

If there are any questions regarding these limits, please contact Deidre Hutchings, Manager of Student Transportation, at 1-709-637-4620.
